About Stage Crafters

For over 50 years, Stage Crafters Community Theatre (Florida's oldest all-volunteer community theatre) and its all-volunteer members have maintained a successful and rewarding partnership with the greater Fort Walton Beach area citizens, bringing the performing art of live theater to the area through our four-show “Main Stage” seasons, "One Act" performances, school programs, and nonprofit fundraising performances. Over 12,000 volunteers have learned and sharpened their skills which expand and enhance their marketable life skills. We have enriched the community experience with live theatre already reaching more than 350,000 audience members and are looking forward to growing for the next 50 years!

Our Mission

We promote artistic expression and community spirit through live community theatre, by producing interesting, entertaining, and cultural plays, musicals, and other forms of entertainment for our public to encourage creative effort in theatre arts. We train actors, directors, producers, and technical personnel. As a community-based organization, we also provide support to other civic organizations and charitable needs by donating time, talent, expertise, materials and equipment. We provide a safe and much needed outlet for the community to interact, learn, and practice the performing arts at no cost.

Our Background

In 1972, after a five-year hiatus, the actors from the Playground Players found their way back to the local stage with the creation of Stage Crafters. That first season consisted of two shows“Everybody Loves Opal'', which was performed in the Fort Walton Beach High School Auditorium, and the second show, “Never Too Late”, which was performed in the Civic Auditorium (and was directed by a familiar character in our group, who at the time was just a newcomer to the area, Nancy Kruzek). Although we are in our 52nd season and many things have changed, many things have remained in place. Today’s organization knows that without the efforts of the Playground Players, the foundation on which they built and their dedication to theatre, Stage Crafters would not be here today. We thank all of the Playground Players wherever they may be. Stage Crafters has managed to thrive over the last 50 years and in 2023, the organization, with the help and support of the community, has finally purchased our forever home!
